LAHORE: The National Highways and Motorway Police (NH&MP) have started adopting extraordinary preventive measures to avoid fog-related incidents and accidents.
In this connection Syed Imran Shah, the NHMP spokesman, Friday said that best time to travel in fog was between 10am to 6pm. “We can avoid many untoward incidents by adopting road safety measures.”
He said drivers should ensure reasonable distance between vehicles. He said moisture in the air might collect on the windshield, which may impair vision. He said the defroster should be adjusted accordingly.
He said use of fog lights was imperative. Imran said commuters could get information about conditions on the helpline 130. He said motorists should avoid applying sudden brakes. He urged motorists to drive carefully on the motorway, observing road safety rules and avoid unnecessary travel during foggy weather. Meanwhile, the Met Office has forecast cold and dry weather in most parts of the country. While dense foggy conditions are likely to continue over plain areas of Punjab and upper Sindh during night and morning hours. According to synoptic situation, continental air is prevailing over most parts of the country, whereas weather remained cold and dry in most parts of the country during the last 24 hours.
