Information Minister Punjab Fayyaz-ul-Hassan Chauhan, in a press conference with CCPO Lahore Omar Sheikh on the issue of a youth threatening on social media to rape and kill a girl namely Fatima, congratulated CCPO Omar Sheikh and ASP Raza Tanveer for apprehending both the accused and his father within 10 hours on the special instructions of Prime Minister Imran Khan and Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar.
He said that now there was a clear difference in the attitude of Lahore Police in particular and Punjab Police in general. He said that no hooligan, bully and vagrant character would be allowed to cast a bad eye on the honor of any one’s mother, sister and daughter. He announced that any victim of blackmail should contact his office if there is no redressal.
He further said that all the institutions should rectify their shortcomings and attitudes so that the confidence of the people in the government and institutions could be restored. He said that during the tenure of Shahbaz Sharif, the PML-N had sponsored and backed Qabza Mafia and drug dealers through and within the police. Prime Minister Imran Khan has exercises zero tolerance policy on patronage of Qabza Mafia and blackmailers by police officers and officials, he said.
Replying to a question regarding Lahore Sialkot Motorway rape case, he said that all sections of the police were working diligently on the tragedy and recent close contacts of the main accused Abid are in police custody. The identification and arrest of the co-accused Waqar, Shafqat and Bala Mistri was made possible after the traditional and modern police interrogation methods and the announcement of the prize money by the Punjab chief minister.
Referring to the controversial statement made by the CCPO, he said that Omar Sheikh had admitted his mistake and apologized but the Leader of the Opposition Mian Shehbaz Sharif, instead of expressing solidarity with the affected family on the floor of the National Assembly, proudly made a false claim to have started construction of Lahore Sialkot Motorway during his tenure. He should have apologized to the nation on the assembly floor, Chauhan said.
