Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Senator Shibli Faraz and Special Assistant to the Prime Minister for Information and Broadcasting Lt General (r) Asim Saleem Bajwa Wednesday visited the Ministry of Information to take charge of their offices.
Secretary Information and Broadcasting Akbar Durrani and heads of the attached departments of the ministry briefed the minister and the SAPM on the affairs of the ministry and its departments.
Speaking on the occasion, Senator Shibli Faraz said it was an honour for him to be assigned an important responsibility by Prime Minister Imran Khan.
He stressed the need to make the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, which had always been run in a traditional manner, play a proactive role. “It is not a one day job and we will move towards the target gradually,” he added.
He said all the officers of ministry were thorough professionals and they should work diligently like a team to transform the ministry on modern lines.
The minister said the ministry’s role was very important for the promotion of literature and culture.
SAPM Asim Saleem Bajwa said it was an honour for him to work as a special assistant. The time had come to transform the Ministry of Information to meet the requirements of 21st century.
He said the Information Service Academy should organize training programmes for the youth and journalists, and equip them with the modern knowledge.
Bajwa stressed the need for promotion of coordination and cooperation among all the departments of the ministry.
