Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Sardar Usman Buzdar has given directives for comprehensive security measures during Youm-e-Ashur in the province.
The Cabinet Committee on Law and Order was directed to ensure implementation of code of conduct, he said in a statement issued from Lahore on Monday.
Modern technology should be fully utilised for implementation and monitoring of the security plan, the CM said.
Vows to change thana culture in the province
Meanwhile, Buzdar has expressed concern over the increase in incidents of police torture. Such incidents have defamed the department, he said. Police reforms in the department are the need of the hour, the CM added.
Thana culture and behavior of police officers towards the public should be changed, he said while chairing a high level meeting.
Improvement in the police system and dispensation of justice to the oppressed is the top priority of the present government, Buzdar said. An inquiry should be conducted against those officials who were involved in torture cases, he ordered. No one would be allowed to torture citizens and any action taken against prisoners, which is beyond the law, would not be acceptable.
