The Pakistan Media Regulatory Authority on Monday continued its crackdown on Indian channels and content, confiscating DTH receivers, transmitters, computers and other equipment being used by cable operators across the country. In a statement, the authority instructed television channels not to air advertisements showing Indian actors. The authority also issued show-cause notices to license holders violating code of conduct. Besides, it warned all cable operators of heavy fine in case of violations of PEMRA regulations. Moreover, the PEMRA chairman appreciated the field staff for carrying out the crackdown on Indian channels. He asked the field staff to implement the top court’s order of banning Indian content on TV channels.
