Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz Punjab lawmaker Samiullah Khan has demanded a strict action against the intelligence agency that provided ‘wrong’ information to the officials of Counter Terrorism Department that led to the ‘fake’ operation of Sahiwal.
During the general discussion on law and order in Punjab Assembly on Friday, the PML-N lawmaker said, “This House should have the courage to take action against the agency, which provided wrong information to the CTD.” He said that the agency should be held accountable for its mistake.
He said that the government had claimed that Daesh members were travelling in the car, which was targeted by the CTD, while the Foreign Office had negated the presence of Daesh in the country. He said that contradictory claims of FO and the government were alarming.
Former PA speaker Rana Iqbal reiterated the demand for formation of a judicial commission to probe the Sahiwal incident.
PPP parliamentary leader Syed Hasan Murtaza said that ministers had violated the ruling of the chair by giving a briefing to the media prior to the House.
Earlier, heated arguments were exchanged between PML-N MPA Azma Bokhari and Minister for Industries Mian Aslam Iqbal after Bokhari accused the latter of giving wrong answers during the question-hour session.
Also a resolution moved by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) MPA Momina Waheed commended the federal government’s economic reforms package.
The resolution called for felicitating Prime Minister Imran Khan and Finance Minister Asad Umar for presenting the best economic reforms package.
Later, Deputy Speaker Dost Muhammad Mazari later prorogued the session for an indefinite time period.
It might be mentioned that the 6th session of Punjab Assembly continued for three weeks but the CM Usman Buzdar didn’t speak even for once in the House.
Moreover, the Punjab Assembly on Friday gave the go-ahead to the constitution of 40 standing committees.
As per details, members of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)-led coalition government will head as many as 21 committees while those of the opposition will get the chairmanship of 19 committees.
According to data available on the provincial legislature’s website, at present, the assembly has a total of 44 committees, including 36 Standing Committees for government departments, Public Accounts Committee (PAC-I) and PAC-II, Committees for Privileges, Library, Government Assurance, Finance, Business Advisory Committee and House Committee.
