KARACHI: The accountability court has issued arrest warrants for former Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) leader Babar Ghauri after National Accountability Bureau (NAB) filed a corruption reference against him.
The NAB has started an investigation pertaining to corruption and illegal appointments in Karachi Port Trust (KPT).
The accountability court issued non-bailable warrants for Ghauri.
Ghauri had left the MQM in 2017.
The bureau also named the former chairman of the KPT Javaid Hanif and eight others in the corruption reference.
According to the reference, Hanif accused of misused his authorities and illegal appointments of 940 people in KPT, causing losses pf Rs 2.885 billin to the national exchequer.
Earlier, NAB arrested Hanif in this case on July 3.
