GUJRANWALA: City Police Officer (CPO) Ashfaq Khan affirmed to provide maximum security for the Sikh pilgrims.
For the provision of safety, CCTV cameras and security gates would be installed around the Gurdwara Rori Sahib in Eminabad near Gujranwala.
While addressing a meeting, he said that more than 600 police officers have been appointed to secure the route of the pilgrims. No visitor would be allowed to enter the zone without checking.
He said that the district police would coordinate with the local administration to deliver health, transport and other facilities to the pilgrims.
The Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) has issued instructions to maintain traffic flow as a security measure for the pilgrims. The traffic police would monitor vehicles and arrange parking.
FIR against police inspector for taking bribe
Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Anti-Corruption Wing approved first information report (FIR) against a police inspector for allegedly taking a bribe from a citizen.
Regional director Fareed Ahmed said that Muhammad Habib Ullah filed an application against inspector Shoukat Ali for taking bribe of Rs30000 from him.
The police inspector deceived him that he would deliver him a Parado vehicle at lower cost.
Reportedly, allegation against the accused is proved during investigation.
Family tortured over a trivial issue
A family was tortured by their neighbours over a minor issue at Mafi Wala in Gujranwala.
While talking to media at DHQ Hospital, Faisal and his wife said that they asked their neighbours to not throw garbage in front of their house. Consequently, the accused tortured them with sticks. Meanwhile, the police have started investigation.
