LAHORE: A joint Investigation team (JIT) has been constituted to investigate two firing incidents that took place at Justice Ijaz ul Ahsan’s residence in Lahore. The first incident took place in the night between Saturday and Sunday, while the second occurred on Sunday morning.
According to a spokesperson for the Government of Punjab, the JIT will be headed by Additional Inspector-General (AIG) of police Muhammad Tahir, and will comprise Sultan Chaudhry, the deputy inspector-general for investigation, alongside representatives from the Military Intelligence (MI), Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), and the Intelligence Bureau (IB).
Following the shootings, Chief Justice of Pakistan Saqib Nisar rushed to Justice Ahsan’s residence, and summoned the Inspector-General (IG) of Punjab in reference to the incident.
The Lahore High Court and Supreme Court Bar Associations also condemned the shootings and are now clamouring for the immediate arrest of the perpetrators.
