ISLAMABAD: India on Sunday resorted to unprovoked firing along the Line of Control (LoC) in Chirikot sector on Sunday, injuring at least two civilians of Chaffar village.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations, a 60-year-old man and a 15-year-old girl were injured due to the unprovoked gunfire.
Both the injured were shifted to civil hospital Abbaspur.
“Pakistani troops effectively responded to the Indian firing,” the army’s media wing said.
The violation came weeks after the cross-border firing left four women injured in Khui Ratta area along the LoC.
Earlier on March 1, Indian border forces violated the Line of Control (LoC), days after the unprovoked firing injured four women.
“Indian unprovoked firing along LoC in Tander and Khuiratta sector today,” a statement issued by the ISPR said. “Pakistan Army troops effectively responded to Indian firing.” On February 26, less than two weeks after three Pakistani soldiers were killed in cross-border firing, Indian troops once again resorted to unprovoked firing along the Line of Control (LoC), leaving four women injured.
“Indian [troops resort to] unprovoked firing on civilian house in Khui Ratta along LoC,” the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said.
“Two girls and two women got injured, evacuated by army troops to a nearby hospital,” the statement issued by the army’s media wing said. The cross border firing was effectively responded to by the Pakistan Army.
On February 13, three Pakistani troops were killed as Indian forces
violated the ceasefire in Thoob sector near Bhimber.
A day later, the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation director general summoned the Indian deputy high commissioner at the Foreign Office in Islamabad and condemned the unprovoked ceasefire violations.
According to Pakistan Army, Indian forces committed at least 178 ceasefire violations along the LoC and Working Boundary in 2016, killing 19 civilians and injuring 80 others.
Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Bajwa, on his visit to the border on February 21, termed the violations an attempt to distract Pakistan Army from its fight against terrorism.
