ISLAMABAD: Islamabad police nabbed 3,164 fugitives, allegedly involved in monstrous crimes during 2016 in a special crackdown against outlaws, police sources said.
According to sources, all SDPOs and SHOs were directed to ensure the arrest of proclaimed offenders (POs) and submit a report of the crackdown on a daily basis.
A high police official also directed the concerned officers to a launch massive crackdown against all criminals involved in gruesome crimes. In compliance of these directions, all Islamabad police station heads began renewed efforts for the outlaws’ arrest.
As a result, a total of 3,164 proclaimed offenders were apprehended during 2016. A police source said that 5,199 proclaimed offenders, in 4,099 cases, were on Islamabad Capital Territory Police’s schedule. “No one is above the law and the arrest of the fugitives should be ensured for the citizens’ safety,” the source said.
