KARACHI: Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has decided to ground the entire fleet of ATR aircraft till they are declared fit to fly after a detailed examination.
According to a press release issued by the airline, “In view of the Civil Aviation Authority’s decision of holding shakedown tests of PIA’s entire ATR fleet, it has been decided to keep all 10 ATR aircrafts grounded till they are cleared.”
This temporary suspension of ATR aircraft will affect PIA’s regular flights to smaller airports of the country.
It is pertinent to mention that a PIA ATR plane PK-661 crashed last week near Havelian going to Islamabad from Chitral, killing all 47 passengers.
