In 1987 the health department Muzaffargarh bought a dental unit for its Rural Health Centre (RHC) in Sinwan which was damaged during the devastating flood of 2010. Later on, the RHC administration kept on writing to high ups regarding the provision of a new dental setup but in vain. Now, the health facility has a new dental unit, which has been detonated by a duty doctor. Dr. Umer Farooq, a dental doctor at the Sinawan RHC, told Daily Times that when he joined the hospital three year ago, it emerged that the dental unit was dysfunctional. He raised the issue with local health administration as well as local MPA Niaz Hussain Gashkori and Special Assistant to the Chief Minister Hanif Pittafi last year during their visit to hospital but all in vain. He added that every day around 200-250 patients visit the hospital for check up and dental treatment but due to dysfunctional dental units it was not possible for him to treat the patient according to SoPs. After with the consent of the health chief executive officer, Dr Farooq bought a new dental unit for patients and for that he spent Rs 800,000 from his own pocket. Health CEO Dr Laghari admitted that he received complaints about the non-availability of the dental treatment plant and he allowed the doctor to buy a dental unit from his own pocket. He said that we allowed the doctor to move the unit with him if he was transferred for the RHC to some other place.
