The number of coronavirus cases and fatalities continues to go down in Pakistan as the country reported eight more deaths in the last 24 hours.
According to the latest figures released by the National Command and Operation Center (NCOC), 330 confirmed Covid-19 cases were diagnosed in last 24 hours. The active coronavirus cases in the country stands at 25,172. The nationwide tally of fatalities has jumped to 5,9992, according to the the NCOC. According to the figures released by the NCOC, 2,48,873 coronavirus patients have recovered in the country so far.
PTI leader Firdous Ashiq Awan has said she had contracted coronavirus but did not make the news public. “I identified gaps in our system by easily hiding my coronavirus test result. Only I and the lab where I had got tested knew of my sample,” the politician said. Awan has now recovered and doing fine.
A member of the National Assembly (MNA) associated with Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Syed Iftikhar ul Hassan has passed away after recovering from coronavirus at the age of 81. He contracted coronavirus in June this year and later recovered from it after being shifted to Lahore for treatment. He suffered from a cardiac arrest on July 17 after which doctors decided to perform open-heart surgery on him. He suffered a brain haemorrhage during the surgery and was shifted on a ventilator. The doctors pronounced him dead on Sunday.
Meanwhile, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa reported 30 coronavirus cases and six deaths during the past 24 hours, according to the provincial health department. At least 219 new cases of the coronavirus have been confirmed in Sindh, taking the provincial tally to 121,705, according to Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah.
