The arrest of an employee over alleged violation of Infectious Disease Act and registration of FIR on wrongly narrated report against him is an unfair and unjust act of Chakwal district administration, a press release issued by the Oil and Gas Company Limited here claimed.
“Our Operation Manager had informed the DC Chakwal regarding contraction of coronavirus in one of his employee. SHO Dohman, Chakwal, called operations manager to his office to explain SOPs of Covid-19. And when the manager reached there, he was arrested over violation of Infectious Disease Act recently promulgated by the government of Punjab,” the press statement stated, adding that the FIR wrongly narrates that the fist Covid-19 positive case emerged on May 3 and that the manager didn’t inform the district administration.
The press statement stated that the OGDCL conducted random testing on May 3, 2020. “First positive case was confirmed on May 4 and the patient was shifted to quarantine centre in Islamabad to isolate him from the remaining employees. On May 4, the contacts of the patients were traced and tested for Covid-19. On May 5, senior officer of OGDCL met DC Chakwal and briefed him about the situation,” the press statement said.
“OGDCL has implemented a strict preventive regime during the prevailing Covid-19 pandemic for the wellbeing of its employees and continuity of its operations. The management decided to conduct random testing of the employees based at the locations and the Head Office. Covid-19 samples of Rajian Oil Field in Chakwal were taken on May 3 and first covid-19 case surfaced on May 4,” it added.
