Minister for Defence Production Zubaida Jalal has said that Personal Protection Equipment (PPEs) like sanitizers, face shields, goggles and protective gowns are being manufactured in Pakistan.
During an interview with Radio Pakistan on Wednesday, Zubaida Jalal said that Pakistan has achieved capacity of producing 4000 liters sanitizer per day besides manufacturing PK-95 masks in large quantity which are almost identical to N-95 masks made by China.
National Radio and Telecom Corporation has made 171 ventilators functional, which were lying out of order in various government hospitals, she said adding that mobile teams of volunteers of NRTC visit provinces to repair outdated and dysfunctional ventilators. An American company has shown interest to manufacture ventilators in collaboration with NRTC for which negotiations are underway, she added.
The Minister Defence Production said that walk-through gates have also been manufacture and work on making thermal cameras was in progress.
The entire production of ministry is given to National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) for further distribution among provinces, she said while responding to a question and added that we are also providing PPEs to Law Enforcement Agencies.
Zubaida Jala maintained that her ministry is preparing masks and other PPEs with its own resources by diverting sufficient funds in this regard.
