Aimed at keeping everyone safe from the COVID-19 outbreak, Pearson (world’s learning company) announced not to hold any General Qualification exams in May and June 2020 globally, including Pakistan.
This applies to iPrimary, iLower Secondary, International GCSE and International A Levels, as well as UK’s GCSE and A level qualifications. Pearson’s first priority is the health and safety of students, teachers and parents globally. This epidemic is impacting the lives in many ways and situation continues to evolve rapidly. Pearson had to take this difficult decision in the best interest of its international customers.
As a UK and international awarding organisation, we’re already working with qualification experts (including Ofqual, UK Department for Education and JCQ), UK exam boards, governments and universities around the world to come together and work on one global approach, so students receive the outcome they deserve.
In Pakistan, Pearson is in coordination with British Council Pakistan for the vast online planning, teaching and learning offered by Active Learn Digital Service, across primary and secondary qualifications. Sharon Hague, Senior Vice President, Schools said in a statement that, “Our overwhelming priority is to support teachers and their students during this time of uncertainty. We’re committed to supporting all of our international customers, whatever is the situation. It is, however, clear that this rapidly evolving global situation continues to present significant challenges, changes and uncertainty for everyone.
We have made the difficult decision not to hold any General Qualification exams in May and June 2020 globally. We remain committed to ensuring that all students internationally receive a result and a grade, and we will award grades to international students using the same principles as for the UK GCSE and A level qualifications.
