Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Shehbaz Sharif Monday thanked Allah Almighty for the Supreme Court’s verdict rejecting an appeal filed by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) challenging the Islamabad High Court decision to grant bail to the Sharif family in the Avenfield reference.
While reacting to the apex court verdict, Shehbaz said he also hopes to get justice in Al Azizia reference.
The Leader of Opposition in National Assembly said his party will consider supporting an extension to military courts if approached by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf government.
Maryam Nawaz has also thanked Allah Almighty over the verdict. “I am forever grateful to Allah Almighty … Sharif family will soon pass through these tested times,” she said. “The fact is that not for a moment was I concerned about myself. InshaAllah true relief& happiness would be when my father comes back home. I have faith in Allah and His infinite Mercy. Thank you all for your prayers &support,” she tweeted.
PML-N spokesperson Marriyum Aurangzeb said a case based on assumptions cannot last long in a court. She said Nawaz Sharif will be successful in every test as his intentions are clean. She asserted that those making accusations against Sharif have failed to substantiate their claims. “Nawaz Sharif undertook projects worth billions. However, even his staunchest opponents have failed to prove even one allegation of corruption or embezzlement of government money against him or his family,” she told reporters after the verdict. “Nawaz Sharif and his family gave an account of family wealth spanning three generations and three decades, and that he is being hounded despite serving the county and the nation with honesty, dedication and clean intentions,” she added.
