The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has issued an initial delimitation list of tribal districts and proposed that these districts be represented in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly through the addition of 16 seats.
According to the proposed delimitation, three seats each of the KP assembly have been suggested for districts Bajur and Khyber, two seats each for Kurrum, Mahmand, South Waziristan and North Waziristan districts, while one each for Orakzai and Frontier Region districts. The ECP has given the public from January 3 till February 1 to raise objections to the proposal. The objections filed in this time period will be heard from February 3 to March 1, while a final report will be issued on March 4.
For Bajaur, the ECP has proposed PK-100 Bajur-I (population: 351,555), PK-101 Bajur-II (population: 348,386); and PK-102 Bajur-III (population: 393,743). The two proposed seats for Mohmand are: PK-103 Mahmand-I (population: 243,426) and PK-104 Mahmand-II (population: 228,931). For Khyber, the commission has proposed PK-105 Khyber-I (population: 314,569), PK-106 Khyber-II (population: 348,756); and PK-107 Khyber-III (population: 323,648). PK-108 Kurrum-I (population: 339,247) and PK-109 Kurrum-II (population: 280,306) for Kurram; PK-110 (population: 254,356) for Orakzai; PK-111 North Waziristan-I (population: 271,057), and PK-112 North Waziristan-II (population: 272,197) for North Waziristan; and PK-113 South Waziristan-I (population: 321,077) and PK-114 South Waziristan-II (population: 352,988) for South Waziristan; and PK-115 Frontier Region (population 357,687).
