LARKANA: Water Commission Chairman Justice (retd) Amir Hani Muslim paid a surprise visit to under-construction oxidation ponds in Umrani village on Sunday and directed Public Health Engineering Department (PHED) officials to accelerate the pace of work.
Justice (retd) Amir Hani directed the district government administration to plant more and more trees to counter pollution and improve the environment. He also visited Shahbaz disposal located near Chandka bridge where he was briefed about the scheme by the PHED Superintending Engineer Abdul Wahab Sahto.
The Chairman expressed his anger over heaps of garbage lying around the disposal and quizzed the Larkana Municipal Corporation (LMC) Chief Municipal Officer (CMO) regarding non-removal of the garbage. Amir Hani directed the CMO to ensure maintenance of cleanliness across Larkana.
Later, he visited disposal established at Nako no. 7 which was found closed.
He inquired the LMC officials about its closure and expressed his anger and dissatisfaction. CMO told him that due to frequent tripping and prolonged electricity load shedding the disposal was closed.
The CMO further revealed that battery of the generator is also out of order due to which disposal is dysfunctional.
Justice Hani ordered the CMO to make the disposal functional immediately or stern action will be taken against him. Deputy Commissioner Syed Murtaza Shah, SSP Shabir Sethar and other relevant officers were also present on the occasion.
