LAHORE: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has arranged two helicopters for the arrest of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) former president Nawaz Sharif and his daughter, Maryam, upon their arrival tomorrow (July 13).
To take both the PML-N leaders into immediate custody, the NAB plans to position one helicopters at Lahore’s Allama Iqbal International Airport and the other at the new Islamabad International Airport.
Further, a 16-member team, including nine officials from NAB and seven from police, has been formed to stay alert in order to arrest the ex-premier and his daughter.
Earlier, Shahzad Saleem, the director-general at the NAB for Lahore, wrote a letter to Justice (R) Javed Iqbal, the chairman Cabinet Divsion, that a helicopter be provided for the transfer of Sharif and his daughter.
The letter stated that a rally that is supposed to be held in Lahore upon the arrival of former premier, is likely to create hurdles in the arrest.
Lately, Sharif was sentenced 11 years in prison with £8-million fine, while Maryam was sentenced to eight years with a £2-million fine, in the Avenfield properties reference case.
