PESHAWAR: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Friday issued show cause notices to 20 lawmakers over their alleged involvement in horse-trading during Senate elections.
In a official party statement, PTI announced that it has sent show cause notices to the lawmakers. The statement read that the lawmakers are expected to submit a written response within the stipulated time period and further action would be taken against them if they fail to do so.
Earlier on Wednesday, PTI Chairman Imran Khan announced names of the PTI lawmakers who had “sold votes” during the Senate elections in March.
“Horse-tradings in Senate has been going on for 30-40 years now, but PTI has set an example by being the only party in history to probe into the matter. We will send show cause notices to the lawmakers and provide them with an opportunity to give an explanation,” Imran had said while speaking to the media in Islamabad.
The lawmakers include Nargis Ali, Deena Naz, Fauzia Bibi, Naseem Hayat, Nagina Khan, Sardar Idrees, Ubaid, Zahid Durrani, Abdul Haq, Qurban Khan, Wajeehuz Zaman, Amjad Afridi, Babar Saleem, Arif Yousuf, Yaseen Khalil, Javed Naseem, Faisal Zaman and Samiullah and two others.
