ISLAMABAD: Responding to a suomotu case on the sale of substandard cooking oil, the Supreme Court (SC) sought report from the authorities concerned on the side effects of packed milk and the list of groceries being sold in the utility stores of the country.
A two-member bench of the SC, headed by Justice Saqib Nisar, heard the case on Thursday. Utility stores’ managing director and industries and production’s secretary ministry produced the report before the court.
The court was informed that two corporations producing ghee have been banned and branded products would be sold next. On which the Chief Justice remarked that there is a need to take realistic measures against the culprits.
The court adjourned the hearing and sought report within ten days.
