ISLAMABAD: Senate Chairman Raza Rabbani on Thursday underscored the need for increased people-to-people contact between Pakistan and Azerbaijan to boost mutual ties. He expressed these views in a meeting with Azerbaijan’s Ambassador Ali Alizada who called on him at the Parliament House. Welcoming the envoy, he said Pakistan placed its relationship with Azerbaijan at a high pedestal and there is need to further strengthen cooperation in different sectors. He was appreciative of the fact that both the countries, being members of the OIC contact group, have supported each other on all crucial issues which is a manifestation of the fact that both accord high importance to each other. The Senate chairman also said that Senate has formed a Pakistan- Azerbaijan friendship group to play a proactive role in boosting cooperation between the two countries. He conveyed his well wishes to the speaker of Azerbaijan’s Parliament. The ambassador thanked the Senate chairman for according a warm welcome. He said that cooperation between the two countries would continue in the future.
