An accountability court has extended the hearing of the Park Lane case filed against former president Asif Ali Zardari till 10th June.
During the hearing, exemption pleas of Asif Ali Zardari and his sister Faryal Talpur were submitted in the court. Along with the Park Lane case, the references including Pink Residency and Nehr-e-Khayyam illegal allotment cases were adjourned due to the outbreak of coronavirus in the country.
The Park Lane reference has been registered against Asif Ali Zardari and Faryal Talpur under different sections of the National Accountability Ordinance, 1999, and the Anti-Money Laundering Act, 2010.
Former President Asif Ali Zardari’s indictment in the Park Lane case has also been postponed. The hearing on the references of illegal allotment of Pink Residency, Nahr-e-Khayyam was also adjourned till June 10
The Park Lane case has been registered under different sections of the National Accountability Ordinance 1999 and the Anti-Money Laundering Act of 2010.
The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) had named Zardari, Talpur, Omni Group chairman Anwar Majeed, his sons and over 10 others as suspects in an interim charge sheet filed in a banking court in August 2018.
The case was transferred in March 2019 from the banking court in Karachi to the accountability court of Rawalpindi for trial.
