Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar on Tuesday visited Toba Tek Singh, Gojra and Trimmu Head Works in Jhang on Tuesday.
At the first leg of his visit, the CM inspected DHQ hospital and distribution of financial aid among needy women under Ehsaas Kafalat Programme in Toba Tek Singh. He also inquired the women about their problems and issued directions for the solution of difficulties faced by them. The women applicants appreciated the philanthropic work done by the PTI government saying that money has been respectably given to them. Rs 3.3 billion is distributed in more than one lakh needy persons in Toba Tek Singh district.
The aid distribution is being monitored by me in the whole of the province and deserving persons will be given their right, the CM added. The CM also inaugurated shelter home set up at DHQ hospital and talked to the people about the kind of facilities arranged for them. They apprised the chief minister that good arrangements are made and food is provided in time. Talking to them, the CM maintained that establishment of a network of shelter homes is a welfare-oriented step of the PTI government. He told that the scope of shelter homes is being extended and this facility is being arranged in hospitals where food is also provided.
Meanwhile, the CM presided over a meeting at DC office to take stock of different arrangements relating to overcoming coronavirus pandemic, eradication of dengue and procurement of wheat in the district. Talking with the participants, the CM continued that it is a difficult moment but the commitment of the nation is much higher. I have, so far, visited 16 districts to review the ground realities and the government has given full attention to the eradication of coronavirus, dengue and procurement of wheat in the province. The government has also provided around 15 billion rupees to the health department to deal with coronavirus and the capacity of the daily tests has reached to more than 4000 in Punjab. This daily capacity will reach to ten thousand in the next few days, he added. The government will provide direct financial aid to the needy under Ramazan Package as Ramazan bazaars will not be set up. This year, he stated that wheat procurement target has been fixed at 45 lakh metric tons and distribution of gunny bags is being done transparently. The Punjab government will meet the wheat procurement target, he added. We will serve the people with commitment and every human life is dear to me, he said. The government officials and parliamentarians should dedicate themselves to the service of humanity as it is the time to work for them. The elected representatives said that CM has set an example by standing with the people in this pandemic and always given respect to the parliamentarians. The CM assured that constituency-related problems will be solved but overcoming the spread of coronavirus is the prime agenda of the government now. DG PDMA told that 97 per cent financial aid is distributed under category one of Ehsaas Kafalat Programme while around 50 per cent aid is given under category two of this programme. Riaz Fatyana MNA, Provincial Minister Ashfa Riaz, assembly members, PTI leaders and others attended the meeting.
Chief Minister Usman Buzdar appreciated the performance of CEO (health) Dr Mumtaz Sial and MS DHQ Hospital Dr Faiza who called on him and added that they have set an example of public service. The nation is proud of its doctors and paramedics working on the frontline and their services will not be forgotten, he added.
While talking to the media in Toba Tek Singh, Chief Minister Usman Buzdar said that he had held meetings with elected representatives of all the divisions of the province before the spread of coronavirus and a strategy was devised after listening to their problems. However, health emergency has been imposed and all the resources are provided to overcome the coronavirus, he maintained. The third phase of Ehsaas Kafalat Programme will be started in the next few days and the deserving people will be assisted in Ramazan-ul-Mubarak as well. Meanwhile, the government has taken practical measures to overcome the coronavirus and ample resources are given to health department besides increasing the diagnostics tests’ capacity. Along with it, the recruitment process of ten thousand doctors and paramedics has also been started, he added.
Chief Minister Usman Buzdar also went to the residence of Bilal Asghar Warraich MPA in Gojra and expressed a deep sense of sorrow over the death of his mother. He offered fateha for the departed soul saying that may Allah Almighty grant courage to the bereaved family to bear this irreparable loss with equanimity.
Buzdar inspected the expansion project of Trimmu Head Works in Jhang on Tuesday where he was given a briefing about the project. The CM directed to suspend the XEN of the irrigation department over poor performance adding that this project is of vital importance for Jhang and adjoining areas and no negligence will be tolerated. Those who will fail to perform will not remain on their posts and government will encourage the hard-working officers, he added. He was also given a briefing about the irrigation department’s projects by the chief engineer.
The CM chaired a meeting at Trimmu Head Works’ rest house to review different steps. He directed to complete the Trimmu Head Works’ expansion project within the stipulated period adding that work is in progress for the rehabilitation of barrages. He reiterated to take every step for the protection of the lives of the people in the wake of coronavirus pandemic, emphasizing that challenge will be dealt with resolutely. He directed that political and administrative machinery should serve the people with renewed vigour adding that steps are being taken for the eradication of dengue as well. Different assembly members appreciated the steps taken by the CM for dealing with coronavirus, saying that practical steps are taken by Usman Buzdar without caring for personal projection. Provincial Minister Taimoor Bhatti, Advisor Faisal Jabwana, assemble members and others attended the meeting.
Meanwhile, different delegations called on Chief Minister Usman Buzdar during his night stay in Sahiwal. Talking to them, the CM emphasized that struggle against coronavirus will be won in collaboration with the people adding that every step is taken to protect the lives of the people. I have spent every moment for the people and I am visiting different districts to know about the ground realities, he said. It is the time to heal the wounds of the poor and there is a need that those who are politicizing things, should change their negative attitude.
