Indian Army in its continued ceasefire violations along the Line of Control (LoC) deliberately targeted civilian population and seriously injured six people on Saturday.
In a tweet, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Director General Major General Babar Iftikhar said, “Indian Army resorted to unprovoked fire in Nikial Sector deliberately targeting civilian population. CFVs being responded befittingly by Pak army troops.” He added that due to indiscriminate fire of Indian artillery at Mohra village, two civilians, including an 18-year-old girl sustained serious injuries. He went on to say that in the last 24 hours, six citizens, including two girls, were injured and evacuated to nearby health facilities for necessary medical care.
“Indian troops resorted to unprovoked ceasefire violations during last 24 hours using artillery and heavy mortars in Sharda, Dhudnial and Shahkot Sectors along LoC deliberately targeting Civilian population,” he said in tweet. “As many as six innocent civilians including a 15-year old girl were critically injured due to Indian Army troops targeted firing,” he said. “Due to Indian Army’s indiscriminate fire of heavy weapons at Bessan Wali and Chhari villages, four innocent civilians including a 15-year-old girl sustained serious injuries,” he said. “Pakistan Army troops responded effectively with matching calibre and targeted those Indian Army posts which initiated fire,” the DG ISPR added.
In 2020, Indian Army has committed 708 ceasefire violations so far, in which two Pakistani citizens embraced martyrdom while 42 sustained injuries.
On Thursday, Pakistan Army had shot down an Indian quadcopter violating the airspace in Sankh Sector along the Line of Control. “In this provocative act, Indian quadcopter intruded 600 meters inside Pakistan’s territory for conducting surveillance. This blatant act was aggressively responded by Pakistan Army troops and (the quadcopter) was shot down,” Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) had said in a statement. “Such unwarranted acts by Indian Army are clear violation of established norms, existing Air Agreement between the two countries and reflect Indian Army’s consistent disregard to Ceasefire Understanding of 2003,” the statement had said.
