All employees of the Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) have donated their two-day salary to the PM’s Relief Fund established to mitigate financial sufferings of the people affected due to economic slowdown caused by the coronavirus outbreak.
MD/CEO OGDCL Shahid Saleem Khan handed over the cheque of Rs 5.3 million to Special Assistance to Prime Minister Nadeem Babar for the PM’s Relief Fund. He said the OGDCL management and employees believe that “we all have to fight against this pandemic together and this will only be possible if we abide by the instructions of the government and the law enforcement agencies.” “During these challenging times, it is our duty to join hands and demonstrate that through collective efforts no challenge is insurmountable,” he said on the occasion. Highlighting the importance of collective responsibility, he said the government alone cannot undertake the relief work. “Society has to collaborate and cooperate,” he added.
Meanwhile, the OGDCL I-9 hostel building, which was converted into a quarantine center last week, has been made operational, where the facilities including medicines, meal, bottled water, personal protective equipment, sanitizers and masks will be provided. The facility, comprising 30 rooms, has been equipped with all relevant medical facilities required for the COVID-19 patients. Besides, a fully equipped ambulance with a ventilator has been placed at the disposal of the quarantine center to meet any emergency. For effective liaison with the district administration, the company has constituted a four-member management team comprising Babar Iftikhar, Dr Afshan, Kamran Riazul Haq and Sajid Ali, which will be available round the clock for any necessary assistance and facilitation.
