A novelette by a Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) employee Mudassar Bashir, has won the Dhahan Prize, a prestigious international literary award.
Bashir, who is associated with SNGPLs Media Affairs Department, has won the prize for his highly acclaimed Punjabi language novelette “Kaun”. He is a seasoned journalist, researcher, historian and a fiction writer who has authored eleven books and numerous articles on fiction, poetry and history in Punjabi and Urdu. His writings have been translated into English, Urdu and Gurumukhi.
It is important to mention here that the Dhahan Prize is the largest literary award celebrating the rich history of the Punjabi language.
The prize, which aims to inspire the creation of Punjabi literature across borders and promoting Punjabi literature on a global scale, has been established by the Canada India Education Society in partnership with the Department of Asian Studies in the Faculty of Arts at University of British Columbia. Bashir will receive the award on November 2, 2019 at a prize ceremony in Vancouver, Canada.
