The judge hearing the Rana Sanaullah’s drug case on Wednesday recused himself from the hearing.
The hearing of the case was to be conducted by narcotics court on the PML-N leader’s bail plea.
Judge Masood Arshad was transferred to the provincial high court as he had rescued himself from the hearing.
According to the prosecutor of the Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF), the notification was issued yesterday.
The judicial remand of PML-N leader has been extended by the court.
The senior leader will now be presented in the accountability court on September 7.
Rana Sanaullah was arrested by the Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) from the Islamabad-Lahore motorway near Sukheki when he was travelling to Lahore from Faisalabad.
The Supreme Court, in its judgement on petitions regarding the video scandal, had heavily rebuked judge Malik for his conduct.
“His admitted conduct emerging from that press release and the affidavit stinks and the stench of such stinking conduct has the tendency to bring bad name to the entire judiciary as an institution,” the judgement read.
“His sordid and disgusting conduct has made the thousands of honest, upright, fair and proper judges in the country hang their heads in shame.”
After the break, lawyer for the PMLN’s leader said he saw it coming as he knew “how strong ANF’s case was”.
The judge said he was answerable to Allah and would have decided Rana Sanaullah’s case on merit.
Speaking to the media Rana Sanaullah’s lawyer said the development was unprecedented and it has happened for the first time during his practice.
