LAHORE: Nisar Nasik, the lyricist of the national song DilDil Pakistani passed away on today morning in Rawalpindi
Nasik, born in 1943, hailed from Rawalpindi. In his last days of life, Nasik suffered from mild blindness and amnesia.
Despite being an eminent Urdu and Punjabi poet, not many know that DilDil Pakistan was wrote by Nasik.
Amjad Islam Aslam, renowned writer and Sitara-e-Imtiaz laureate said, “He was a huge name in the field of poetry and literature.Nasik’s personality was different than most of us. He avoided literary gatherings and preferred to focus on work.”
Dr Sugra Sadaf, Director General Punjab Institute of Language Art and Culture expressed her condolences saying, “I have known Nasik since decades now. He was not only a great poet but was also a good human being.”
Dill dill Pakistan was sung by the late Junaid Jamshed, the track took Vital Signs to new heights of success and he remained associated with Radio Pakistan throughout his life and also wrote songs for Pakistan Television (PTV). He also authored two novelettes – Chothi Simat Ka Musafir and DilDil Pakistan.
He was honoured with Life Time Achievement Award by Pakistan Tv (PTV) for his contribution to the literature
Nasik will be put to rest at the Ratta Amral graveyard in Rawalpindi today.
