The Sindh Chapter of the Peoples Youth Organisation (PYO) has formulated a comprehensive protest strategy in response to the possibly arrest of former president and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari, with the priority of launching massive demonstrations for giving a tough time to the federal government on roads.
According to PYO spokesperson Taimoor Ali Maher, this was decided during a recently held meeting at the PYO Karachi Secretariat, which was attended by officials belonging to various cities. The participants of the meeting also discussed ways to tackle the emerging situation in the political arena in the context of arrest warrants issued for Asif Ali Zardari in an inquiry pertaining to a money laundering case.
The meeting criticised the National Accountability Bureau chairman “in strong words” for approving the arrest warrants.
Expressing annoyance, Taimoor said the PYO believed that the PPP was being pushed against the wall by the PTI government. He further warned of waging a war if his party’s top leadership was targeted by any federal institution on political grounds.
The PYO spokesperson urged the federal government to understand that the PPP had a bright track record when it comes to strengthening democracy in Pakistan. He also claimed that scores of youth were willing to join the PYO-led protest demonstrations after Eidul Fitr, and added that PTI government had completely failed to deliver.
