NAROWAL: On Monday, a man’s mother-in-law claimed that he allegedly tortured his wife and forced acid down her throat for “not bringing enough dowry”. Meanwhile, the victim has been moved to a local hospital.
The victim’s (Mariyam’s) mother alleged that her husband and in-laws beat her, tortured her and forced her to drink acid when they found that she had not brought as much dowry as they expected.
The incident, which took place in the Pikhekey Mousa (administrative district) comes a year after the couple got married. Mariyam has been left in a critical condition in the District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital.
Police said that they have arrested three people, including the husband — who was identified as Adnan — and his father.
