LAHORE: As a latest attempt to appease conservative forces, the University of Engineering and Technology (UET), Islamabad, on Saturday, banned its female students from wearing jeans in a new dress code.
The UET has issued a special compulsion on scarves and dupatta for female students while banning them from wearing sleeveless shirts and capri pants. According to the notification, the UET administration has also banned jeans for male students while directing them to come to the varsity in formal dressing; pants, shirt and coat. The administration has even asked male students to dress in Shalwar Kameez. The new dress code has elicited mixed responses from the student body where some are favouring it while others have expressed displeasure.
