A family held a demonstration on Saturday against a moneylender and a police officer over a loan dispute at Jinnah Bagh roundabout in Larkana.
Reportedly, Anwar Khatoon and her husband Aslam Siyal, residents of Mubarak Kalhoro village, told reporters that she took a loan of Rs 150,000 from a moneylender Abdul Haq Chandio about one and a half years ago for medical treatment of her daughter.
She alleged that she had given him Rs 300,000, but he demanded more.
She claimed that he has been threatening her family, and consequently she pleaded with a station house officer (SHO) of the Bahram police station for help, but an influential person Qurban Khokhar intervened in the matter and asked the SHO to force her to pay Rs 500,000 to the moneylender.
She said that her family was starving due to poverty, and appealed to the Chief Justice Ahmed Ali Sheikh of the Sindh High Court (SHC) to take notice of the matter and deliver justice.
She further appealed to the Inspector General of Police (IGP) to take a stern action against SHO for his corrupt practices and wrongdoings.
