In a shocking incident on Tuesday, a father allegedly threw his two sons into irrigation canal artery Janat Shakh on the outskirts of Garhi Yasin town of Shikarpur district in Sindh.
According to the Ghulam Shah police station sources, the accused Habibur Rahman Magsi butchered his wife about eight years ago “in the name of honour” and desired to remarry after being released from jail, but could not convince his two sons 14-year-old Abdul Samad and 12-year-old Janat Shaikh.
Subsequently, he tied their hands and legs, and threw them into the canal.
Meanwhile, passersby rescued the children following their hue and cry in the canal and informed police about the incident. Later, policemen arrested their father while patrolling in the area and lodged an FIR (first information report) against him on behalf of the state under sections 324 and 342 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC).
