SRINAGAR: All Parties Hurriyet Conference Chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq was placed under house arrest on Friday after he had earlier announced to hold a protest today against Indian aggression in IOK.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Indian Police used unconstitutional means to try and stop the protest set for today. It was said that the Hurriyet leader Mirwaiz was put under house arrest, while dozens of Kashmiri youth were arrested during door-to-door raids.
Mirwaiz was expected to lead a protest rally after the Friday prayers today outside Jamia Masjid, Srinagar.
According to reports, the Indian authorities have placed security check-posts on various areas of the region, while internet services have also been suspended in parts of Srinagar.
