UMERKOT: 13 year-old girl, Amisha Khashkeli who was reported missing last week from Sindh’s Umerkot district was recovered Wednesday.
After meeting her mother and brother Amisha said “I was kidnapped and drugged, after which I lost consciousness.”
She also identified her kidnappers as Khushbakht, Faiz Ali, and Saifullah.
Amisha was in the custody of Hyderabad Police after she was recovered on Wednesday.
Home minister for Sindh, Suhail Anwar Siyal stated, “A Baloch couple handed over Amisha Khashkeli to the police.”
“The Baloch couple found the girl at a roadside,” he added.
Siyal guaranteed that the kidnappers, even if they happened to be the police, would be investigated.
Relatives of Amisha claimed last week that a policewoman stepped in their house, stopped Amisha’s marriage on the commands of a native feudal lord, and took the girl away.
Amisha had been missing since then.
On the other hand, police officials claimed that they raided Amisha’s house on the 18th of April after receiving information that a 13-year-old girl was being married to an eight-year-old boy.
Police officials further added that the groom ran away upon hearing about the raid. The police, moreover, took the girl, her sister, and her mother and later handed them over to their relatives after recording their statements.
After this news went viral on social media, the inspector-general of police (IGP) for Sindh A.D. Khawaja, suspended Khushbakht, the station house officer (SHO) for Umerkot Women Police, and called for an inquiry into the incident.
