ISLAMABAD: Addressing the media outside the accountability court that is set to hear corruption cases against him and his family, former Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif claimed that he would have taken Pakistan to unprecedented heights had he not been deposed.
He also argued that had he been allowed to see out his tenure, he would have made a ‘new’ Pakistan, and regretted that certain elements continued to pull the government down.
The PML-N leader also addressed the cases impending against him, and labelled them ‘fabricated’ whose results the public will not accept.
The former PM also lamented the fact that he would be unable to inaugurate the Lahore-Multan motorway or the new Islamabad airport.
Nawaz also took a jibe at Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Imran Khan, and referring to Imran’s speech at the Minar-e-Pakistan on Sunday, claimed Imran always made hollow claims.
