LAHORE: Former prime minister Nawaz Sharif on Saturday said that the Constitution and law in Pakistan has always been “ridiculed” and taken for granted.
“Whatever has happened to us has happened, but we would not accept Pakistan to bear the same fate as us. The Constitution and law in the country has always been ridiculed,” Nawaz said while speaking at a party conference in Lahore.
The former premier added that “in these difficult times if we stand firm” then the next 70 years will be prosperous for the country. He added that the cases filed against him hold no authenticity and that nothing can break his resolve.
Referring to the general elections 2018, Nawaz said: “Only 3 months remain until the elections. We will have to help our own selves and those who are loyal to the PML-N must prepare themselves to uphold the sanctity of vote during the coming elections.”
He also criticised Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan saying that “he received orders from above.” “Pervaiz Khattak says that by ‘orders from above’, he meant Bani Gala. I ask you, is the Bana Gala from above?” the former premier questioned those in attendance.
Nawaz also lauded Punjab CM Shehbaz Sharif for playing a vital role in development of Punjab and the country. “Shehbaz has created a network of roads in Punjab and has improved the standards of health and education. His work is commendable,” he added.
