KARACHI: Despite Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi’s assurances that K-electric’s (KE) gas demands would be met, the Sui Southern Gas Company Limited (SSGCL) has still not restored gas supply to the power generation company.
An episode of load-shedding has gripped Karachi over the past few weeks that has paralysed life in the city and for which KE blames the SSGCL.
Officials at KE have argued that the SSGCL cut off gas supplies to KE which reduced the production of electricity. This subsequently led to power cuts in Pakistan’s largest city.
On a visit to Karachi, the PM had vowed that SSGCL would continue gas supplies to KE, and had promised that load-shedding would end soon in Karachi.
