A malicious social media campaign with mala fied intentions of unverified plagiarism charges has been staged against Prof. Dr. Raheel Qamar, Tamgha-i-Imtiaz, Rector, COMSATS Institute of Information Technology (CIIT), Islamabad, which is merely a false propaganda aimed at defaming the repute of a well recognized researcher / tenured professor of Biochemistry & Molecular Biology heading the country’s topnotch Degree Awarding Institute. As a matter of immense concern, CIIT strongly condemns this mala fide social media bashing of its Rector as fake news, and consequently, the Institute resolves to take legal action against all such perpetrators behind this heinous activity through concerned Law Enforcement Agencies and the courts of justice.
Higher Education Commission’s (HEC) Plagiarism Policy describes plagiarism as “taking and using the thoughts, writings, and inventions of another person as one’s own”. An in-depth professional analysis of Prof. Qamar’s articles that were alleged to contain plagiarism reveals that the allegations of plagiarism were completely false and untrue and therefore, an official complaint has been launched with FIA’s cybercrime wing with a request to initiate an investigation against maligning the reputation of Prof. Dr. Raheel Qamar, TI, and CIIT, under the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act, 2016, with the perpetrators to be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.
