The federal government is denying Sindh its rights, Pakistan People’s Party chairman Bilawal Bhutto said on Wednesday.
He said the federal government was not fixing a tariff for power projects besides denying Sindh its share in the NFC award and water. “Nawaz Sharif has remained the prime minister only of Lahore, not of the rest of Pakistan,” he said, while addressing a gathering at Senhari Dars village in Thar.
Bilawal said that he had challenged PTI chairman Imran Khan to contest election against him from Karachi. “We will defeat him.”
He said the PPP would sweep the upcoming election and form government in the centre. Regarding Karachi, Bilawal said it was the capital of the province and his party’s government had wanted to work for the city’s development but the party controlling the local government was neither working on its own nor letting others work for the city.
“They are fighting among themselves. They aren’t working for the city and not letting others work either.”
Bilawal urged the residents of Karachi to vote for the PPP so that the party could transform the fate of the city.
Earlier, the PPP chairman’s flight made the inaugural landing at newly established Mai Bakhtawar Airport in Tharparkar, constructed at a cost of Rs2.2 billion to facilitate international investment in the area. The airport has been named after Mai Bakhtawar, a woman peasants’ leader who fought for the rights of haris. Her struggle started in 1898 and she convened the first Hari Conference in Thar in June 20, 1947.
