ISLAMABAD: The Federal cabinet on Saturday approved an extension in tax amnesty scheme till July 31.
Previously an ordinance was sent to the president of Pakistan for approval of the extension. Originally, the scheme was supposed to expire on June 30.
Till June 30, a total of 55,000 people have benefitted through the scheme by paying almost Rs68 billion to FBR.
The scheme facilitates people to declare the details of their local and foreign assets without facing any consequences.
According to that scheme, a 5% tax on local assets and 2% tax on foreign assets was set by FBR.
