The National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) on Tuesday said that 118 people lost their lives in the country due to Covid-19 in the last 24 hours.
It said though implementation on smart lockdowns has significantly reduced the number of deaths due to coronavirus, 2,846 more people were tested positive. The data released by NCOC said that 20,930 tests were conducted in the last 24 hours in the country. It said that 98,503 patient recovered so far across the country making it a significant count. It said 505 ventilators are occupied across Pakistan out of 1,562 allocated for Covid-19 patients.
On Tuesday, Balochistan reported another 50 coronavirus cases and two deaths during the past 24 hours, according to the provincial health department’s daily situation report. The provincial total has risen to 10,476 while the death toll is 121.
Sindh reported 2,701 Covid-19 cases and 34 deaths during the past 24 hours, according to Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah. In a statement issued by the CM House, he said that 9,435 tests were conducted during the past 24 hours. With the new cases, the provincial total has risen to 84,656 while the death toll has risen to 1,377.
At least 723 new cases of coronavirus were reported in Punjab in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of infections in the province to 75,501. According to the Primary and Secondary Healthcare Department, 46 more people died due to complications related to the virus, taking the death toll in the province to 1,727. Thus far, 27,147 patients have been cured of the disease in the province. As many as 723 fresh cases were detected after 7,729 tests were conducted in the previous 24 hours.
A minor girl and a pulmonologist died of Covid-19 at Lahore’s Institute of Child Health/Children’s Hospital and Mayo Hospital respectively. Eleven-year-old Maryam is the first child who lost her life due to coronavirus in Punjab so far. She was brought from Okara to the Children’s Hospital after she tested positive for the virus. The girl was bought with co-morbidities.
In the last six days, the daily count of positive cases in Islamabad remained 271. Majority of the cases in the last two days were reported from Loi Bher where 32 people tested positive, followed by 23 from I-8, 22 each from G-7 and Sohan, 21 from Rawat, 19 from G-10, 18 each from I-10, G-6 and Khanna, 17 from Tarlai, 16 each from G-8, Bhara Kahu and G-5, 14 from G-9, G-13 from G-11 and 10 from G-13.
The government’s Covid-19 portal shows that 3,096 more people have recovered from the coronavirus in Pakistan during the last 24 hours. This takes the total number of recoveries to 98,503.
