The National Accountability Bureau (NAB), Lahore organised a ceremony to give away possession letters (PLs) worth billions of rupees among 472 affectees of Khayaban-E-Amin Housing Society, on Friday. The distributed PLs comprised of 171 x apartments and 301 x plots.
As per details, M/s Sahir Associates Private (Pvt) Limited (Ltd) launched a housing project by the name of Khayaban-E-Amin Housing Society in 2005-6 and started bookings for houses, apartments and plots from 2007 onwards by luring the general public to buy them on low prices. The society administration promised to deliver booked plots etc within two years, but failed to do so.
After receiving multiple complaints against the society, NAB, Lahore taking notice of the situation arrested one of the owners Allah Ditta Heera. However, the co-accused, Sahir Rasheed took a pre-arrest bail to avoid arrest.
Currently, both the accused are on a conditional bail, acquired for the purpose to accommodate and adjust issues with the affectees of the society as promised within the deadline drawn by NAB Lahore.
In October 2018, NAB Lahore arranged a ceremony in which PLs of 1,400 x Plots and 150 x Houses worth Rs 4.70 billion were handed over to the affectees. Moreover, in two ceremonies, held in May 2019 and July 2019, PLs of 1,531 x Plots and 443 x Houses were also handed over amongst affectees of Khayaban-E-Amin Housing Society. Whereas, around 3,600 x affectees of the society have benefited so far due to the efforts of NAB Lahore officials.
NAB Chairman Justice Javed Iqbal and NAB Lahore director general (DG) have issued clear instructions regarding laying focus on the redressal of losses caused to general public rather than on the conviction of the accused.
NAB Lahore has been working to make it possible that every housing society in Punjab display an approved map of the society, denominating dedicated places for mosques, graveyards and roads etc. As per the directions from NAB Lahore DG, a NAB team will visit the society on a fortnightly basis to monitor the ongoing development work. At the end, while paying enormous gratitude to the NAB Lahore chairman and DG, affectees of Khayaban-E-Amin Housing Society admired the actions being taken in the housing sector and said that NAB Lahore has addressed the issues being faced by them in a very short time, which has only been possible due to the effective supervision of the NAB Lahore director general.
