Honour killing claimed another life as a man, on Saturday, gunned down his wife in Village Murad Ali Badani Jatoi, Katcha area, Tehsil Khanpur, Shikarpur, in the jurisdiction of Kot-Shahoo Police Station.
SHO Sher Muhammad Jaffari told this scribe that the 26-year-old woman identified as Ameena and was the wife of Sonaro Badani Jatoi by caste. She was shot dead by her husband at her parent’s home over alleged illicit relations with her neighbour, Yasin Badani Jatoi.
He further revealed that she had eloped with Yasin eight months earlier from the house of her husband. The accused shot her dead upon seeing her at the house of her parents and managed to escape from the crime scene, the SHO added.
In a similar development, the suspect had already lodged an FIR against Yasin Jatoi at Napar-Kot Police Station alleging that his wife Ameena had eloped with Yasin. Local police moved the body to KhanpurTHQ Hospital and later handed it over to her relatives after conducting necessary medico-legal formalities.
An FIR [12/2019] was lodged on the complaint of SHO Sher Muhammad Jaffari on the behalf of the state at Kot-Shahoo Police Station and the police initiated the manhunt.
Separately, a man shot his sister dead over suspicions of her illicit relations in Village Jamalpur on Friday evening.
According to an official, the accused, namely Dadho Junejo, shot his sister identified as Zarina, wife of Ameer Bux Junejo, dead over having illicit relations. He then ran away from the site of crime. Local police rushed to the spot and transported the body to THQ Garhi Yasin Hospital for autopsy. The dead body was handed over to her relatives after completing necessary medico-legal formalities.
Neither an FIR was lodged nor police succeeded in arresting the alleged killer till the filling of this news story.
