Karachi: The Karachi Tajir Action Committee (KTAC) said they would go on a three-day strike against imposing of new taxes on Saturday. They demand Imran Ismail Governor of Sindh to resign immediately.
The Tajir Action Committee held its meeting here and presented its charter of demands against the new taxes imposed by the federal government. “Decrease bank transaction tax from 0.6 percent to 0.3 percent, collect sales tax on Rs 10 million or above, do not collect tax from those whose annual income is below Rs 1.2 million, publish all income tax rules and regulations in Urdu language and withdraw regulatory duty on second-hand clothes,” the committee said.
The KTAC members, in a press conference held at Elahi Center near Akbar Road, have also appeal to Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Bajwa to resolve the issues of trader’s community.
“There is also a need to print income tax form in Urdu language,” they demanded.
the government should make four categories of income tax from Rs 4,000-20,000 depending on shop size, committee said.
Moreover, they said a sizable number of mobile phones, which are not registered are being blocked by the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) and suggested to the government to charge Rs 400 for registration of these mobile phones.
Additionally, they said the income tax deduction limit for salaried class which has been slashed to Rs 600,000 per annum should be restored to Rs 1.2 m.
The committee also threatened to extend the market shut down in case their demands are not met.
