Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar said on Thursday that he was not affiliated with any of the groups within the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).
“I am only affiliated with the PTI. I will appear before the National Accountability Bureau if it summons me.” Buzdar said all cabinet members and elected representatives would attend the reception hosted by Punjab Governor Chaudhry Mohammad Sarwar.
Separately, in a message on the foundation day of the PTI, Buzdar said peaceful and respectable political struggle of the party spanning over a period of 23 years had become an example in the national history. “Imran Khan has made the PTI a harbinger of change and broken the traditions of orthodoxy and fear of new trends in politics. He said the PTI was a genuine political party that represented the aspirations and emotions of the people.
Meanwhile, a high-level meeting was held under the chair of Buzdar and Punjab Assembly Speaker Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi in the committee room of the Punjab Assembly to review progress on under-construction new building of the Punjab Assembly.
The CM directed the authorities concerned to complete the building as soon as possible. “The Punjab government will provide funds on a priority basis for early completion of this project,” he added. He said the previous government was responsible for delay in this project because funds were not allocated during the previous tenure. He said further delay should not occur in the construction of the new building.
Speaking on the occasion, Pervaiz Elahi said that hurdles in the project should be removed to move forward. He hoped that the construction work would be completed during the current year. A briefing was given regarding the progress made on the project, and the design of the new MPAs hostel was also given approval.
Meanwhile, Punjab Governor Chaudhry Mohammad Sarwar and Buzdar went to Rajanpur to attend the Qul of Sardar Nawazish Dreshak, the father of MPA Sardar Ahmad Ali Dreshak. They condoled with Ahmad Ali and prayed for the departed soul. Later, dastarbandi of Ahmad Ali and his brothers was performed.
