Former Sindh Chief Minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader, Liaquat Ali Jatoi, here on Wednesday, challenged orders to put his name in the Exit Control List (ECL) in a petition to Islamabad High Court (IHC). The case was heard by a division bench of Chief Justice Athar Minallah and Justice Mian Gul where the defence counsel said that a case was filed against his client over the appointments in Alternative Energy Development Board (AEDB). He called out the decision to place names of three out of seven accused as malicious and believed that the Interior Ministry of Interior had done so on the recommendations of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB). The court asked NAB and other parties to submit their replies in this matter and adjourned the hearing for two weeks. The watchdog body had filed a reference against ex-CM last year for his alleged involvement in making illegal appointments in the Alternative Energy Development Board (AEDB). The former prime minister, Shaukat Aziz, was also named in the same reference. NAB’s reference against Jatoi was filed on directives by NAB Chairman Justice (retd) Javed Iqbal.
